Mayor Chau is the first BIPOC mayor in Lowell, Massachusetts as well as the first Cambodian American mayor in the United States. He represents a city that has a 25 percent Asian American population. Mayor Chau shared his experiences fleeing from the Khmer Rouge as a child refugee, his life before getting elected to office, the campaign trail, and his visions for the future.
