Gal is an attorney-at-law and a doctoral student (J.S.D.) at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Having lived in Shanghai for nearly three years, Gal became interested in further exploring China’s approach to technology regulation and policymaking. Currently, Gal’s research is centered on AI regulation and policy in China and the United States, with a particular interest in generative AI. Her broader research areas include Law and Technology, AI regulation, IP Law, Chinese Law, and Comparative Law.
Prior to her fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School, Gal was a Visiting Researcher in the East Asian Legal Studies (EALS) Program at Harvard Law School. She obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from KoGuan Law School, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Tel Aviv University.
