
Ming Tian is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Government, Sun Yat-sen University. He holds a master’s degree in political theory from Nanjing University, where his research focused on the normative foundations and practical implications of political liberalism, with special attention to the later works of John Rawls.
His current research explores foundational questions in modern political philosophy, particularly the transtemporal identity of political communities. He approaches this issue through a comparative lens, drawing on both political philosophy and political theology. His broader academic interests include the history of modern political thought and Catholic political philosophy, with particular attention to Rousseau’s theory of the public sphere, Locke’s conception of property in light of contemporary debates, and Catholic social teaching on the common good.
