The Rajawali Foundation Institute for Asia invites you to join Ruby Wang, physician, healthcare strategist and writer, and Rana Mitter, the ST Lee Chair in U.S.-Asia Relations at Harvard Kennedy School, for a book talk.
Ruby Wang’s new book, China Cure: The Rise of a Biotech, AI Medicine and Global Health Superpower (2026), examines how scientific investment, industrial policy and technological development have transformed China’s biotechnology, AI medicine and healthcare sectors. Drawing on her personal experiences and career across clinical medicine, health diplomacy and industry, the book brings the patient story and the human perspective to the policies, institutions and innovations behind this transformation. It explores what other countries can learn from China’s successes and shortcomings, and how Chinese drugs, technologies and companies are increasingly influencing global markets and health systems. As healthcare innovation becomes an important dimension of international competition, how should governments balance national security, economic interests and international cooperation while advancing the health of their populations?
Ruby is a British-Chinese physician, healthcare strategist and writer. She is Founding Director at LINTRIS Health, a healthcare strategy consultancy and at ChinaHealthPulse newsletter and podcast. She is the 2026–27 Alistair Horne Visiting Fellow at St Antony’s, the University of Oxford, Fellow in Global Public Health at the Asia Society Center for China Analysis, and Digital Health Council at the Royal Society of Medicine. Previously, she served as Head of Health for the UK Government’s Foreign Office at the British Embassy in Beijing, Health Adviser to the United Nations in China, and Medical Adviser to Alibaba Health. She studied Medicine and Neuroscience/Psychology at the University of Cambridge and UCL, and at Tsinghua University as a Schwarzman Scholar.
