Jing He is professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(UCASS). She serves as the Director of the UCASS Center for Political Communication Studies and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Political Communication Research. She has been a visiting scholar at institutions such as Harvard Kennedy School, University of Oxford Centre for China Contemporary Studies, and School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her main research interests include political communication, media technology and social change, and health communication.
He is the author of Mass Media and the Rise of China’s Middle Class—The “Middle Class” in Media Discourse (2009) and Mass Media and the Rise and Development of China’s Migrant Worker Class (2024), and served as the editor-in-chief of The Chinese Approach to Political Communication Studies—Selection of Papers Commemorating the Tenth Anniversary of the Forum on Political Communication and Social Development(2023). He has published several papers in internationally and domestically recognized core journals as well as at academic conferences both in China and abroad. He has received the Outstanding Paper Award in Chinese Journalism and Communication.He has led research projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, the Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences Research Project, and the China Youth Research Center, among others.
Since 2013, Jing He has founded the Center for Political Communication Studies. Starting in 2014, she began organizing China’s first annual academic forum on political communication research, the “Political Communication and Social Development” Forum. Concurrently, she established and managed the first academic WeChat public account dedicated to political communication studies, “Political Communication Research.” From 2015 onward, she has organized the “Politics and Communication” Graduate Student Forum. Currently, her research focuses on the impact of intelligent technology on political communication activities, with particular attention to the application of intelligent technology in grassroots (Ji Ceng) governance and political communication innovations.
