Jinyi Ma is a Ph.D. candidate at Peking University’s School of Government. She serves as an assistant researcher at the Institute of National Governance Studies and is also a researcher at the China-ASEAN Collaborative Innovation Center for Regional Development.

Her research interests encompass populism and public interest theory. Her primary focus lies in examining the emergence and progression of populism in Europe and the United States, with a special emphasis on the influence of party politics. Additionally, she demonstrates a keen interest in exploring the present state of populism in non-Western nations, including Myanmar and the Philippines in Southeast Asia.
