Pita Limjaroenrat

Pita Limjaroenrat is the Chief Advisor to the leader of the Move Forward Party (MFP). He led MFP in Thailand’s May 2023 generation elections, which saw his social democratic platform win the most votes and seats in the Parliament. Despite receiving a strong political mandate from the Thai electorate, a victory often likened to “Thailand’s Obama Moment,” his attempts to form a government were thwarted by institutionalized counter-majoritarian mechanisms. Nevertheless, the MFP, with the most Members of Parliament, now chairs over 10 committees and has members in all 35 committees in the House of Representatives.

Pita’s policy focus centers on addressing grassroots issues, with a particular emphasis on advocating for welfare improvements, agricultural reform, and human rights. More structurally, he has called for the demilitarization of Thai politics, the demonopolization of the economy, and the decentralization of the Thai administrative system. As the MFP’s Chief Advisor to its current leader, Pita continues to steer the party’s strategies, embodying hope for a transparent, equitable political landscape in Thailand.

Prior to his political career, Pita worked as an executive of Grab Thailand, a Southeast Asia’s focused ride hailing application. He was also a CEO of Agrifood, a producer of Rice bran oil products. He started his business career at the Boston Consulting Group. Pita holds a joint MPA-MBA degree from Harvard Kennedy School and MIT Sloan.  Most recently, he has been named on the TIME 100 Next List.
