Xinyao Wang

Wang Xinyao is a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Government, Peking University. She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in law and economics from Jilin University and is an alumna of the University of Cambridge exchange program (2019). Wang has served as an assistant researcher at the Development Research Center of the State Council and Peking University’s China National Conditions Research Center.

Her research focuses on Chinese politics, examining government responsiveness and social governance through the lens of risk regulation. Wang is also interested in data governance, AI-enabled political analysis, and disaster politics. Employing mixed methodologies—including machine learning and case studies—she investigates the interplay between technological innovation and public governance dynamics in contemporary China.
