Yang Han

Dr. Yang Han is Director of Division & Senior Research Fellow at Rural Economy Research Department in Development Research Centre of the State Council (DRC), China. She advances evidence-based research on global and Chinese food security and international agricultural economics theory and policy, leveraging empirical and policy-oriented approaches to address sustainable agri-food systems, eradicate hunger, promote resilient resource governance and modern agricultural development.
Dr. Han’s professional trajectory includes appointment as Deputy Director and Associate Research Fellow at the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences’ Fishery Development Strategy Centre (2012–2017), where she advanced sectoral policy research. During this tenure, she conducted research as a Visiting Research Fellow at Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Florida (2015–2016). Earlier foundational work began with her role as Postdoctoral Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences’ Rural Development Institute (2009–2012).
Dr. Han holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from China Agricultural University (2009), awarded through a joint doctoral program administered by China’s Ministry of Education and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (2007-2008).
